ASTM A106 Seamless Solid Carbon Steel Fin Tube

ASTM A106 seamless solid carbon steel fin tube is a high-temperature seamless carbon steel tube based on the ASTM A106 standard.
Fins are added through a special process (such as rolling or welding) to form an enhanced heat transfer element.

ASTM A106 Seamless Solid Carbon Steel Fin Tube Specifications
1. Base Tube Specifications
Outer Diameter Range: 10.3mm to 762mm (covering DN10-DN800 pipes). Common industrial pipe outer diameters range from 21.3mm to 508mm.
Wall Thickness Range
2.0mm-140mm, 5-50mm is commonly used for high-pressure applications.
Length Standards
Single lengths are typically 5.8-12 meters, with custom cutting available.
II. Materials and Grades
Steel Grade Classification
A106B (Gr.B): Most commonly used, carbon content ≤ 0.30%, manganese content 0.29-1.06%, tensile strength ≥ 415 MPa.
A106C: Optimized low-temperature toughness, suitable for -29°C environments.
Chemical Composition
Total content of copper, nickel, and chromium is limited to ≤ 1%, and sulfur and phosphorus content are both ≤ 0.035%.
III. Fin Parameters
Fin Type
Spiral fins: Height 5-25mm, pitch 3-10mm.
Vertical fins: Height 3-20mm, suitable for high-pressure fluids. Process Requirements
High-frequency welding or integral rolling. Cold-drawn tubes require heat treatment above 650°C.
IV. Application Specifications
Boiler Systems
Recommended A106B tubes with an outer diameter ≤ 219mm and a wall thickness ≥ 6mm, with a pressure resistance of 10 MPa.
Petrochemical Industry
Large-diameter tubes (≥ 508mm) require thermal expansion, with a wall thickness ≥ 12mm.
I. ASTM A106 Seamless Solid Carbon Steel Fin Tube Base Tube Materials and Standards
Material Characteristics
Using ASTM A106 standard carbon steel (A106A/B/C grades), corresponding to China’s 10# and 20# steel, with a carbon content ≤ 0.35% and a manganese content ≤ 1.35%.
The seamless structure ensures pressure resistance (up to 10 MPa) and high-temperature adaptability (≤ 400°C).
Standard Classification
A106A: Prioritized for cold-formed applications, suitable for low-pressure applications.
A106B (Gr.B): The most commonly used grade, equivalent to 20# steel, with a balance of strength and weldability.
A106C: Optimized low-temperature toughness, suitable for -29°C environments.
II. ASTM A106 Seamless Solid Carbon Steel Fin Tube Process and Performance
Manufacturing Process
High-Frequency Welding: Metallurgically bonds the fins to the base tube, resulting in low thermal resistance and suitable for medium and high-pressure systems.
Integral Rolling: Seamless, integrated construction offers enhanced mechanical strength and excellent wear resistance.
Performance Advantages
Heat Transfer Efficiency: Fins increase surface area by 3-8 times, increasing heat transfer efficiency by over 40% compared to bare tubes.
Corrosion Resistance: The surface can be galvanized or epoxy-coated, making it suitable for corrosive media.
